LAS VEGAS, NV – An 89-year-old man hurt in a car accident in Spring Valley in February died of his injuries yesterday, per the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident took place at the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Torrey Pines Drive at about 11 a.m. on Sunday, February 21. Athanasios Poulis attempted to make a left-hand turn on a solid red light, causing a westbound 2008 Dodge Caliber to T-bone his 2005 Lexus ES 330 on its driver’s side. Poulis was taken to a hospital, where staff believed his injuries to be non-life-threatening. However, the Coroner’s Office informed LVMPD yesterday that Poulis had died of injuries sustained in the crash.
An investigation has been launched as a result.
The 31-year-old female driver of the Dodge suffered minor injuries, and was not taken to the hospital. She remained at the scene, and police do not believe she was impaired.
