News: Two-car crash results in life-threatening injuries near Winchester

The incident happened around 3:42 p.m. Monday afternoon at the intersection of Dalhart Street and Boulder Highway. One of the vehicles overturned as a result of the collision.

According to investigators, a Mazda Tribute was struck by a 2015 Chevy Spark making a left-hand turn, which sent the Mazda into the center median. The vehicle struck several large boulders and then overturned. The Mazda’s driver has been identified as Richard Pilant, 75, who was taken to the UMC trauma with substantial injuries

Francisco Hernandez, 48, did not show any signs of impairment at the time and remained on the scene. He suffered minor injuries.
