News: Two dead, man facing DUI charges following wrong-way crash on Hwy 95

LAS VEGAS, NV – Two people are dead, and a man is facing DUI charges following a wrong-way crash on Highway 95 this morning, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The collision happened on northbound US-95, near Rancho Drive, at about 8 a.m., as the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was headed southbound, against the flow of oncoming traffic.

He crashed into another pickup truck, then into a Volkswagen passenger vehicle. The Chevrolet then burst into flames.

The driver and passenger in the pickup truck died as a result of the crash.

The wrong-way driver was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. There, he was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The driver of the Volkswagen suffered minor wounds in the accident.

Authorities closed the northbound lanes of the highway as they investigated the crash. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and to expect traffic delays.
