News Update: Driver strikes semi-truck on I-80, dies, injures passenger
Nichoel Davis, 40, was driving west on I-80 in a black Acura at a high rate of speed. Davis had one passenger, Laron Edward, 51.
At around 6:30 a.m., Davis drove onto the shoulder in an attempt to pass a semi-truck but struck it in the process. This caused the Acura to overturn. It was then struck again by another semi-truck heading east. Davis died and Edward was injured in the crash.
Police were looking for the Acura prior to the crash. They responded to reports of shots fired from a black sedan at a pickup truck and found a Chevy Silverado with bullet holes. Police believe Edward may have been involved in the shooting.
