News update: Police release name of driver from fatal W Farm Rd crash
According to a witness at the scene, Alejandro Carrion, 27, was driving Chevrolet Tahoe on eastbound W Farm Rd when he strayed into the westbound lanes near Tenaya Way and struck a Toyota Prius driven by 62-year-old Susan Villella.
The witness said he could tell that Villella did not survive the collision, so he went to check on Carrion. He told officers Carrion smelled strongly of alcohol. Police at the scene of the crash reported the same thing.
Carrion told officers that he spent the night partying at bars on Lake Mead Blvd prior to the collision.
Officers also discovered two small baggies in Carrion’s wallet. One of the baggies contained over a gram of cocaine, the other was filled with Psilocybin mushrooms.
Carrion was treated for minor injuries at UMC and was then booked for multiple charges, including possession of narcotics, DUI, and reckless driving resulting in death or bodily harm. He was originally held on $14,000 bail, but it has since been decreased down to $8,000.
