News: Fire breaks out at recycling center in North Las Vegas
NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV – Firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at a recycling facility in North Las Vegas yesterday, KSNV reports.
The fire broke out at a Republic Services facility located on the northwest corner of Commerce Street and Cheyenne Avenue, when a spark ignited as a garbage truck unloaded its cargo. The blaze eventually spread into a three-alarm fire, which sent smoke billowing across the Las Vegas Valley and required the efforts of 60 firefighters to extinguish.
Fortunately, while about 50 employees were on the site at the time of the fire, no one appears to have been injured.
Investigations are ongoing, and a damage estimate is expected within the next few days.
