Las Vegas: 50 Intersections With the Most Crashes in January 2026
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) released a list of 50 intersections in the city that reported the most car accidents in January 2026. The department did similar releases in May 2025 and September 2025. This is because they aim to continually monitor and respond to dangerous intersections, while increasing public awareness.

The data-driven approach allows the LVMPD to identify the specific locations where they should deploy more officers to curb unsafe driving behaviors. Accordingly, lowering the number of collisions and traffic deaths throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
The 50 most dangerous intersections in the 2026 list are from all 10 area commands, with five locations listed for each.
Some of the intersections listed are Charleston & Decatur (Bolden), Harmon & Paradise (Convention Center), Charleston & Eastern (Downtown), Blue Diamond & Jones (Enterprise), Clifford & Lake Mead (Northeast), Decatur & Lone Mountain (Northwest), El Capitan & Tropicana (Summerlin), Maryland & Flamingo (South Central), Pecos & Sunset (Southeast), and Decatur & Flaming (Spring Valley).

Why These Las Vegas Intersections See So Many Crashes
The LVMPD said the top citations issued in January were speeding (11 to 20 mph over the limit), disobeying a steady red signal, and driving without a valid license, insurance, or registration. These are dangerous behaviors that endanger road users and are contributing factors to intersection car crashes.
A driver who is driving 11 to 20 mph over the limit has a significantly reduced reaction time. If traffic slows down, traffic lights turn red, or a pedestrian enters the intersection, they may not be able to stop in time because speeding increases the stopping distance. Despite applying the brakes, the vehicle will travel an extra distance before coming to a complete stop. By this time, it may have blown through the intersection, hitting another car or a pedestrian.
Running a red light is another dangerous behavior that can cause serious injuries at intersections, yet it’s not an uncommon violation in Las Vegas. Various reasons can make a driver engage in such negligent behavior. These include speeding, inattentive driving, frustration after a long wait for traffic signals to change, and making an aggressive left turn.
When a driver disobeys a steady red signal, they may strike the side of a vehicle proceeding through the intersection, resulting in a T-bone collision. A driver making an aggressive left turn, for instance, one who turns left immediately the light turns green without waiting for a safe gap, may cause a head-on or side-impact crash.
Drivers who receive citations for driving without a valid license, insurance, or registration are also dangerous. A lack of proven competence often indicates that a driver lacks the knowledge to operate a vehicle or safely respond to hazards.
Additionally, driving without valid documents can be viewed as a general disregard for traffic laws and safety regulations. A driver who does this is highly likely to engage in risky behaviors.
Moreover, some drivers without valid licenses may have had their licenses suspended or revoked because of driving under the Influence (DUI). Such a driver behind the wheel demonstrates disregard for safety laws, which can increase the likelihood of them engaging in reckless behaviors.
The high number of citations issued related to this violation can explain the number of accidents in Las Vegas, especially at intersections. A concerning number of drivers have underlying behaviors and circumstances that increase the risk of accidents.
What Drivers Need To Know
A list of dangerous intersections provides public education and awareness. Drivers get to know the most crash-prone intersections, and, in turn, they can take extra precautions while in these areas.
It also informs drivers of the behaviors they need to avoid when sharing the road with others. They are encouraged to observe the speed limit, obey red lights and stop signs, and be extra careful during high-risk times, such as early morning hours.
The LVMPD stated that it’s focused on saving lives and making the roads safer for everyone. Additionally, they have encouraged members of the public to share tips about problem intersections.
